Today I has the opportunity to shoot a dude.  Well, he is soon-to-turn-one-year-old dude, but a dude, all the way.  He is THE dude, as a matter of fact. This little guy was great fun, and he reminded me that as a portrait photographer who lives in a house full of beautiful girls, I don't always get a chance to shoot dudes.  Afterall, dudes are usually the reluctant ones.  Not always, but sometimes, it is certainly the guy who would just rather NOT stand there cheesin' away. This week I have found myself watching some inspirational photography videos on the internet, and one particular video was quite poignant.  Zack Arias, who I consider to be my mentor, although he doesn’t know it (hehehe) gave a talk at Luminance 2012 last year, and it really struck a chord.  The topic was Social Media, and how to approach it for photographers who are trying to reach an audience and grow their business. It seems fairly obvious that music and photography occupy opposite ends of the sensual spectrum.  Music is an auditory experience, while photography is predominately visual.  But really, if you are moved by either art form, there is a synthesis, a merging of the two that heightens the effect of both.  It’s a powerful enough vehicle that artists in the music business utilize visual imagery into their lyrical expression with profound results, and it’s cool enough to take a look at who in the music world uses such imagery. The last week as been great fun, as we  celebrate our little Giselle’s first year brightening our lives, and as an added bonus her birthday falls on Valentine Day. Anatomy of A Portrait   A great question to ask yourself, when committed to any endeavor, is “what exactly am I doing”.
